University of Guelph

The University of Guelph (U of G, or Guelph) is a public research university in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. It was founded in 1964 after the amalgamation of the Ontario Veterinary College, the Macdonald Institute, and the Ontario Agricultural College. U of G is a member of the U15, a group of research-intensive universities in Canada.

The university has seven colleges: the College of Arts, the College of Biological Science, the College of Business and Economics, the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences, the College of Veterinary Medicine, and the Ontario Agricultural College. U of G offers over 90 undergraduate and 60 graduate programs.

The university is home to a number of research centres and institutes, including the Guelph Food Research Centre, the Canadian Centre for Swine Improvement, and the Centre for Genetic Improvement of Livestock. U of G is also a major teaching and research centre for veterinary medicine.

The university's varsity athletic teams are known as the Gryphons. They compete in the Ontario University Athletics conference.
