Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO)
Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) is an electric utility company based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It provides electricity to approximately 550,000 customers in eastern and southwestern Oklahoma. PSO is a subsidiary of American Electric Power (AEP).
PSO was founded in 1924 as the Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company (OG&E). In 1998, OG&E merged with Central and South West Corporation (CSW) to form AEP. PSO is one of AEP's seven operating companies.
PSO's electric grid consists of approximately 12,000 miles of transmission lines and 40,000 miles of distribution lines. The company's generating capacity is approximately 4,000 megawatts (MW). PSO's fuel mix is approximately 60% coal, 20% natural gas, and 20% renewable energy.
