Open-Contracting.org is a non-profit organization that promotes transparency and accountability in public contracting. Our mission is to make public contracting data accessible, understandable, and useful for everyone. We do this by developing open data standards, building tools and resources, and supporting a global community of practitioners.
Open-Contracting.org was founded in 2014 by a group of volunteers who were frustrated by the lack of transparency and accountability in public contracting. We believed that by making public contracting data more accessible and understandable, we could help to improve the quality of public services and reduce corruption.
Since then, we have grown to become a global organization with a team of over 20 staff and a network of over 100 partners. We have developed a number of open data standards, including the Open Contracting Data Standard (OCDS) and the Beneficial Ownership Data Standard (BODS). We have also built a number of tools and resources, such as the Open Contracting Portal and the Open Contracting Toolkit. These tools and resources are used by governments, businesses, and civil society organizations around the world to make public contracting data more accessible and understandable.
We believe that open contracting is essential for good governance. By making public contracting data more accessible and understandable, we can help to improve the quality of public services, reduce corruption, and promote accountability.
