NDBSWE (Named Data Networking Based on Software Wireless Edge) is an open-source research and development project dedicated to achieving high-throughput, low-latency, and secure wireless communication. The project's primary objective is to develop a high-performance prototype of named data networking (NDN) and evaluate its feasibility for use in future wireless networks.
NDN is a new Internet architecture that utilizes content names instead of IP addresses, focusing on content-centric networking, security, and mobility. In NDN, data is identified by its name, and the network routes data based on these names. This approach offers several advantages over the traditional IP-based Internet architecture, including improved security, reduced latency, and increased network efficiency.
NDBSWE aims to combine the benefits of NDN with the unique characteristics of wireless networks to create a high-performance and reliable wireless communication system. The project leverages software-defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV) technologies to develop a flexible and programmable network infrastructure that can adapt to changing network conditions and traffic patterns.
