The Montana Public Employee Retirement Administration (MPERA) is a state agency that provides retirement, health, and other benefits to public employees in Montana. MPERA was created in 1973 by the Montana Legislature to provide a central retirement system for all public employees in the state. Today, MPERA serves over 60,000 active and retired members and administers over $12 billion in assets.

MPERA is governed by a 13-member board of trustees, including seven public employee representatives, three employer representatives, and three public members. The board is responsible for setting policy and overseeing the administration of MPERA.
