The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) is an international intergovernmental research organization located in Dubna, Moscow Oblast, Russia. JINR was founded in 1956 by the Soviet Union and several Eastern European countries. Today, JINR has 18 member states, including Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Cuba, the Czech Republic, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, North Korea, Moldova, Mongolia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine, and Vietnam. JINR is a leading center for research in nuclear physics, high-energy physics, and other related fields.
