Eastern Oregon University (EOU) is a public university in La Grande, Oregon. It is Oregon's fifth-oldest institution of higher learning and one of seven public universities in the state of Oregon, and Oregon's only public rural university.

EOU was founded in 1929 as Eastern Oregon Normal School, and its mission was to provide teacher training for rural communities. In 1955, the school became Eastern Oregon College, and in 1997, it became Eastern Oregon University. Today, EOU offers more than 60 undergraduate and graduate degrees in a variety of disciplines, including arts, sciences, education, business, and health sciences. The university also offers online and distance learning programs.

EOU is a member of the Oregon University System and the NCAA Division II Great Northwest Athletic Conference. The university's athletic teams are known as the Mountaineers. EOU is also home to the Eastern Oregon Center for Arts and Culture, which hosts a variety of arts and cultural events throughout the year.
