Compassionate Friends is a global organization providing friendship, understanding, and hope to families coping with the death of a child of any age and from any cause. We offer a safe and caring community where bereaved parents, siblings, and grandparents can share their experiences and learn from each other. We also provide resources and information to help families rebuild their lives after the death of a child.
Compassionate Friends was founded in 1969 by a group of parents who had lost children. The organization has since grown to include over 600 chapters in the United States and over 30 countries around the world. We are a non-profit organization that relies on the support of our members and donors to provide our services.
Our mission is to support families who are grieving the death of a child. We provide a variety of services to help families cope with their grief, including:
- Peer support groups
- Individual counseling
- Family events
- Educational resources
- Online support
We also advocate for policies and programs that support bereaved families. We work with policymakers and other organizations to ensure that families have access to the resources and support they need to rebuild their lives after the death of a child.
