United States Military Academy (USMA), commonly known as West Point, is a four-year coeducational federal service academy located in West Point, New York. It was established in 1802 as a military academy for training officers for the United States Army. Today, West Point is a highly selective institution that enrolls approximately 4,500 cadets from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The academy's mission is to educate, train, and inspire its cadets to become leaders of character for the Army and the nation.
