WBENC is the nation's largest third party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women in the United States. WBENC partners with 14 national women's business organizations to provide a wide range of programs and services to help women-owned businesses grow and succeed.

WBENC was founded in 1997 by a group of women business owners who recognized the need for a national certification standard for women-owned businesses.

In 2000, WBENC launched its online directory of certified women-owned businesses, which has become the largest of its kind in the United States.
