TnCompass is a Tennesse statewide information technology system for managing TennCare fee-for-services claims and eligibility. Launched in July of 2007, with the goal to implement a uniform, statewide system for TennCare fee-for-services claims and eligibility, to improve the integrity of the program, and to reduce administrative costs.

The system is web-based and accessible to providers and managed care organizations (MCOs) through a secure Internet connection and has been developed to streamline the claims processing operation by eliminating paper claims and the need for multiple data entry.

Core functions of the system include claims submission and adjudication, eligibility, provider enrollment, claims status inquiry, and remittance advice. The system also has the ability to generate reports and perform analysis on claims data.

The system has been successful in reducing administrative costs and improving the timeliness of claims processing. The Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) has estimated that the system has saved the state over $100 million in administrative costs since its implementation.
