TIE.org was founded in 1994 by David Thornburg as “Thornburg International Education”, and was created in response to the growing need for educational opportunities for international students, teachers, and administrators. In 1997, Thornburg International Education merged with “Educators for Cultural Understanding”, and became known as “Teaching, Instruction, Education”. In 2003, TIE.org became its own non-profit foundation.

• Study Abroad Programs: TIE.org offers study abroad programs for students of all ages and academic levels. Programs are available in over 100 countries, and range in length from two weeks to one year.


• Teacher Training Programs: TIE.org offers teacher training programs for educators who want to teach English abroad. Programs are available in over 20 countries, and range in length from two weeks to one year.


• Workshops and Conferences: TIE.org offers workshops and conferences on a variety of topics related to international education. Events are held throughout the year, and are open to educators, students, and administrators.


• Professional Development: TIE.org offers professional development opportunities for educators who want to enhance their skills and knowledge. Opportunities include online courses, webinars, and workshops.
