SPREP is the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme, an intergovernmental organisation charged with promoting cooperation among Pacific islands countries and territories to protect and manage their environment and natural resources. SPREP was established in 1993 and is based in Apia, Samoa.

SPREP's work is guided by the Framework for Action on Climate Change in the Pacific Islands Region, which was adopted by Pacific leaders in 2014. This framework sets out a collective vision for a resilient and low-carbon Pacific, and identifies four key priorities for action:

* **Climate change adaptation and resilience:** Helping Pacific Island countries and territories to adapt to the impacts of climate change, and build resilience to future climate change impacts.
* **Climate change mitigation:** Reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the Pacific region, and transitioning to a low-carbon future.
* **Disaster risk reduction and management:** Strengthening disaster risk reduction and management systems in the Pacific region, and improving the region's resilience to natural disasters.
* **Environmental management:** Protecting and managing the Pacific region's environment and natural resources, including its oceans, forests, and biodiversity.

SPREP works in partnership with a range of stakeholders, including governments, non-profit organisations, and the private sector, to implement its work programme. SPREP's work is funded by a combination of donor funding and member country contributions.
