San Francisco School (SFS), formerly called the Cooperative School, is an independent, coeducational day school, serving grades PK (3 years old) through 12, with an optional PG year. Founded in 1966–67 as a preschool in San Francisco's Pacific Heights neighborhood, SFS purchased its current campus in the Presidio in 1977. The school is organized into three divisions: the Early Childhood Center (PK–Grade 2), the Lower School (Grades 3–5), and the Upper School (Grades 6–12 and PG).

The school's mission is to nurture and empower students to thrive as creative, confident, and compassionate members of the world. SFS offers a rigorous academic program that is complemented by a wide range of extracurricular activities, including athletics, the arts, and community service.
