SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc. is a theme park and entertainment company founded in Orlando, Florida in 1964 by George Millay, Milton Shedd and Ken Norris. It currently owns or licenses a total of 12 theme parks, water parks, and animal theme parks located in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Abu Dhabi. The company was founded as SeaWorld by Millay, Shedd and Norris, who owned a small marine park called Marine Life on Mission Bay in San Diego.

In 1968, SeaWorld purchased the failing Undersea World in San Diego and converted it into a larger marine park. In 1970, the company opened its first SeaWorld theme park in Orlando, Florida. In 1971, the company purchased the failing Marineland of the Pacific in Rancho Palos Verdes, California and converted it into a larger marine park. In 1972, the company purchased the failing Oceanarium in St. Louis, Missouri and converted it into a larger marine park. In 1973, the company purchased the failing Sea Life Park in Honolulu, Hawaii and converted it into a larger marine park. In 1974, the company purchased the failing Marineland of Florida in St. Augustine, Florida and converted it into a larger marine park.
