The Regional Industrial Development Corporation of Southwestern Pennsylvania (RIDC) is a 501(c)(4) non-profit corporation whose mission is to improve the economic development and quality of life in Southwestern Pennsylvania. RIDC is the largest certified economic development organization in Pennsylvania. RIDC was founded in 1958 by a group of business and community leaders who wanted to find a way to revitalize the region's economy following the decline of the steel industry. RIDC's first major project was the development of the RIDC Industrial Park in O'Hara Township, which is now home to over 300 businesses and employs over 10,000 people. RIDC has since developed or redeveloped over 7,500 acres of land and has helped to create over 40,000 jobs in the region. RIDC's focus is on developing and redeveloping industrial and commercial properties. RIDC also provides a variety of financial and technical assistance to businesses and communities. RIDC is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The organization has a staff of over 60 employees and a board of directors that includes representatives from business, government, and academia. RIDC is a member of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).
