Rabtx.com is an initiative of the National Emergency Response on Rabies (NERR) of the Royal Government of Thailand and Department of Livestock Development (DLD). This is to serve as a common platform that provides rabies related information, news, and tools to the public, veterinarians, and health care providers.

Rabies is a fatal but preventable viral disease of mammals most often transmitted through the bite of an infected animal. The virus infects the central nervous system, ultimately causing disease in the brain and death. The vast majority of rabies cases occur in dogs, but the virus can also be found in other mammals, including cats, cattle, horses, and bats.

Rabies is a global problem, with an estimated 59,000 human deaths each year, mostly in Asia and Africa. Thailand has been rabies-free since 2008, but the risk of reintroduction of the virus remains high due to the close proximity of rabies-endemic countries.
