The Office of the Gas and Retail Markets (OGRM) is an independent statutory authority that regulates the gas and retail electricity markets in Queensland, Australia. The OGRM was established in 2006 under the Gas and Electricity (Market Reform) Act 2006. The OGRM's main functions are to:

• Monitor and enforce compliance with the National Gas Law and the National Electricity Law in Queensland.


• Set and review gas and electricity prices.


• Facilitate the development of competition in the gas and electricity markets.


• Protect the interests of consumers.

The OGRM is governed by a board of directors, which is appointed by the Queensland Government. The board is responsible for setting the OGRM's strategic direction and overseeing its operations.

The OGRM has a staff of around 50 people, who are based in Brisbane. The OGRM's budget is around $10 million per year.

The OGRM is a member of the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Energy Council. The COAG Energy Council is a forum for cooperation between the Australian Government and the state and territory governments on energy policy issues.
