The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an intergovernmental economic organisation with 38 member countries, founded in 1961 to stimulate economic progress and world trade. It is a forum where governments can work together to share experiences and seek solutions to common problems. The OECD provides a setting where governments can compare policy experiences, seek answers to common problems, identify good practices, and coordinate domestic and international policies. The OECD has a staff of over 2,500 people from all over the world.

The OECD's work is divided into several directorates, each of which focuses on a specific area of policy. The directorates are:

The OECD's work is based on the principle of peer review. This means that the OECD's member countries review each other's policies and practices, and provide feedback and recommendations.
