NIOZ stands for the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research. It is the leading institute in the Netherlands for marine research, and one of the largest in Europe. NIOZ conducts fundamental and applied research on the North Sea, the Wadden Sea, and the Dutch coastal zone.
