National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (National MagLab) is a US federally funded research facility dedicated to advancing the science of magnetism and its applications. The MagLab is a consortium of three universities: Florida State University, the University of Florida, and Florida A&M University.


The MagLab is the world's largest and highest-powered magnet laboratory and has been at the forefront of scientific discoveries that have applications in medicine, energy, and national security.


The MagLab's research is focused on three areas:

• Fundamental research on the nature of magnetism


• Applied research on the development of new magnetic materials and devices
