Manic Street Preachers are a Welsh alternative rock band formed in Blackwood, Caerphilly, Wales, in 1986. They consist of James Dean Bradfield (lead vocals, lead guitar), Nicky Wire (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Sean Moore (drums).


The band achieved popularity in the early 1990s with their third studio album, "Generation Terrorists", which spawned the UK top 10 singles "Motorcycle Emptiness" and "Sleepflower". Their fourth album, "The Holy Bible", was released in 1994 and is considered by many to be their masterpiece. The album was a commercial success, reaching number two on the UK Albums Chart and spawning the top 10 singles "Faster" and "No Surface All Feeling".


Manic Street Preachers have continued to release critically acclaimed albums throughout their career, including "Everything Must Go" (1996), "This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours" (1998), and "Know Your Enemy" (2001). They have also had a number of hit singles, including "If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next" (1998), "The Everlasting" (1999), and "So Why So Sad" (2001).


Manic Street Preachers are one of the most successful and influential British rock bands of the past three decades. They have sold over 10 million albums worldwide and have won numerous awards, including two Brit Awards and an Ivor Novello Award. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.
