Jackson Health System is a non-profit healthcare system based in Miami, Florida. It is the largest provider of healthcare in South Florida, with more than 1,800 licensed beds and more than 10,000 employees. Jackson Health System was founded in 1959 as Jackson Memorial Hospital. The hospital was named after James D. Jackson, a prominent Miami physician who donated land for the hospital's construction. Jackson Memorial Hospital quickly became one of the leading hospitals in South Florida, and it was designated as a teaching hospital by the University of Miami School of Medicine in 1961.

In 1993, Jackson Memorial Hospital merged with North Shore Medical Center to form Jackson Health System. The merger created one of the largest healthcare systems in the United States.
