The Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) is the regional agency responsible for protecting air quality in the San Francisco Bay Area. BAAQMD is a public air pollution control agency created by the California Legislature in 1955. The BAAQMD's mission is to protect and improve air quality in the Bay Area through regulatory, incentive-based, and collaborative programs aimed at reducing air pollution from all sources.
