CUT is a young, dynamic, research-intensive university with a primary focus on teaching and learning. CUT was established in 2004, through a merger between the former Technikon Northern Cape and the University of the North (Turfloop).
CUT is the only higher education institution in the Northern Cape, and one of only two universities in the country with a dual mandate embracing both technology and comprehensive academic programmes.
Our diverse student population comes from all corners of South Africa and neighbouring countries, and they are taught by highly qualified and experienced academics who are committed to providing them with a quality education. With satellite campuses across the Northern Cape and a vibrant main campus in Mafikeng, CUT is well-positioned to serve the needs of our students and the communities we serve.
