CTR NGD (SITREP) is a US military site. The Army Reserve (USAR) is one of the three components of the United States Army. As of 30 September 2022, the USAR consists of approximately 189,000 Soldiers in 4,700 units located throughout the United States, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. The Army Reserve provides trained and ready Soldiers to supplement Active Army forces in support of the full range of military operations; this includes deploying with active-duty forces anywhere in the world.
The USAR traces its roots to the colonial militia and has served the Nation throughout its history. During the Civil War, the Army Reserve's antecedents, the state militias, provided the bulk of the manpower for both the Union and Confederate armies. In the Spanish-American War, the Army Reserve provided over 100,000 volunteers. During World War I, the Army Reserve provided over 500,000 volunteers. During World War II, the Army Reserve provided over 1 million volunteers. During the Korean War, the Army Reserve provided over 250,000 volunteers. During the Vietnam War, the Army Reserve provided over 300,000 volunteers. During the Gulf War, the Army Reserve provided over 100,000 volunteers. During the War on Terror, the Army Reserve has provided over 300,000 volunteers.
