CommunityChange is a national nonprofit organization that builds the power of low-income people, especially communities of color, to create change. We do this by developing and supporting policies and strategies that address the root causes of poverty and inequality. Our work focuses on three core areas: economic security, health and housing. We believe that all people deserve the opportunity to live healthy and productive lives, and we are committed to fighting for policies that make that possible.

CommunityChange was founded in 1991 by a group of community organizers who were working to address the needs of low-income communities in California. Since then, we have grown into a national organization with offices in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, and Washington, D.C. We work with a network of over 500 community-based organizations across the country, and we have helped to secure billions of dollars in funding for programs that benefit low-income communities.

Our work is based on the belief that low-income people have the power to create change in their own lives and communities. We work to build the capacity of community organizations to develop and implement effective strategies for change. We also work to create partnerships between community organizations and policymakers, so that the voices of low-income people are heard in the halls of power.

CommunityChange is a nonpartisan organization. We work with both Democrats and Republicans to advance policies that benefit low-income communities. We believe that poverty is a solvable problem, and we are committed to working with all who share our vision of a just and equitable society.
