Cave Canem Poets (CCP) is a non-profit organization founded in 1996 by Toi Derricotte and Cornelius Eady. Its mission is to nurture, celebrate, and promote Black poetry. Cave Canem is the only national organization dedicated exclusively to Black poetry and was created with the understanding that Black poetry deserves a dedicated space to flourish and grow. CCP is committed to building a community of poets, supporting their creative work, and fostering the appreciation of Black poetry.

CCP's programs include workshops, retreats, readings, and publications. The organization has published over 40 anthologies and chapbooks, and many of its poets have gone on to win major literary awards. CCP also offers a number of educational programs, including a summer residency for emerging poets and a mentorship program for high school students.

Cave Canem Poets is a vital part of the American literary landscape. The organization provides a much-needed space for Black poets to develop their craft and share their work with the world. CCP's programs have helped to launch the careers of many talented poets, and the organization continues to be a force for good in the world of literature.
