Atlanta Public Schools (APS) is the public school system serving the city of Atlanta, Georgia. Founded in 1872, APS is the oldest public school system in the state of Georgia and the 32nd-largest school district in the United States. APS serves over 50,000 students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, with a student-teacher ratio of 15:1. The district has 105 schools, including 73 elementary schools, 17 middle schools, 13 high schools, and 2 charter schools. APS is governed by a seven-member Board of Education, which is elected by the voters of Atlanta. The district's superintendent is Dr. Meria Carstarphen.

APS has been recognized for its academic excellence, with several of its schools being ranked among the best in the state and nation. In 2019, APS was named the "District of the Year" by the Georgia School Superintendents Association. APS is also a member of the Council of the Great City Schools, a coalition of the largest urban school districts in the United States.
