The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) is the specialized agency for agriculture of the Inter-American System. Its mission is to encourage, promote, and support the development of agriculture and rural life in the Americas. IICA is a key player in the regional agricultural sector, providing technical assistance, training, and policy advice to its member countries. The Institute also works to foster cooperation and collaboration among its member states, as well as with other international organizations.

IICA was founded in 1942 as the Inter-American Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IICA). In 1971, it was renamed the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture. IICA is headquartered in San José, Costa Rica, and has a presence in all 34 member states of the Organization of American States (OAS).

IICA's work is organized around four strategic priorities:

* **Sustainable agriculture and rural development:** IICA promotes sustainable agricultural practices that protect the environment and natural resources, while also improving the livelihoods of rural communities.
* **Agricultural trade and investment:** IICA supports its member countries in developing and implementing policies that promote agricultural trade and investment.
