Sanford Health is a non-profit health system headquartered in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, United States. Sanford Health was founded in 1882 by Dr. Frederick and Fanny Sanford. The couple moved to Sioux Falls from Minnesota in 1879 and opened a small clinic. The hospital was renamed the Sanford Hospital in 1928, and in 1997, the hospital merged with the Sioux Valley Hospital to form Sanford Health.
