John Ruskin University (JR University) is a higher institution accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Philippines, a private, non-stock, non-sectarian institution of higher learning. JR University began its operations in 1972. As of 2018, It has been offering 45 undergraduate degree programs, 42 graduate degree programs, and 2 doctorate degree programs. JR University's programs are organized into 7 colleges and 2 schools.




The university started its operations in 1972 with an initial enrollment of 1,200 students and offering six (6) baccalaureate programs. It has an initial capital of P200,000.00 and a faculty of 45. The school's original campus was located in JRU Plaza, España, Manila. Later on, it transferred to its present location in the City of San Juan, Metro Manila and is widely known as JRU Katipunan.




JR University has been recognized for its academic excellence. In 2018, it was ranked 51st-60th in the Philippines by Webometrics Ranking of World Universities. It was also ranked 3rd in the Philippines in the field of Hospitality and Tourism Management by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings.
